Majestic Care of Goshen is honored to highlight one of our Memory Care residents, Cynthia “Cj” Wenger! Born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, Cj is the eldest of ten siblings and has been creatively inclined from a young age. Surrounded by a large, loving family, she found joy in art, music, and imaginative projects, and her first job helping in her father’s medical practice was an early sign of her lifelong devotion to caring for others.

In her early twenties, Cj moved to Seattle, Washington, where she immersed herself in the city’s thriving art and music community and welcomed her first child, Barley Mills. Upon returning to Indiana, she welcomed her second child, Tynan Hartigan, while balancing motherhood, artistry, and work with characteristic warmth and determination.

Cj’s career included roles at Crown Industries and later as manager of the computer lab at Elkhart Central High School, where she taught computer science and encouraged students to explore creativity and curiosity. In 1991, she married Keenan Wenger, building a home filled with music, laughter, and purpose. Together, they adopted children and fostered others, creating a nurturing and creative household where values of empathy, justice, and giving back were deeply instilled.

Her artistic talents extended beyond her home—Cj created artwork for her church and local schools, cared for foster children and animals, and rescued injured wildlife. Her nurturing spirit has touched every life she encounters.

Cj’s transition to Majestic Care of Goshen was met with support from her family and our dedicated staff. She quickly became a beloved presence in the Memory Care unit, doting on her favorite Reborn Nursery baby doll, “Baby,” and offering comfort, laughter, and companionship to fellow residents. She actively engages in life-enrichment activities, from art projects and “house projects” to dancing with staff, with her room always filled with music spanning decades and genres—a true reflection of her joyful soul.

Recently, Cj celebrated her 72nd birthday with a tea-party-themed event attended by residents, families, and staff—a day filled with laughter, art, music, and connection, perfectly embodying the love and inclusivity she brings to our community every day. Cj’s story is a beautiful reminder that life continues to bloom in meaningful ways, and she continues to inspire, uplift, and build community around her each and every day.
