What has ‘empowered’ you to become a social worker?: I’ve always been drawn to the field of human services, being able to directly help and support others is the most fulfilling career I can think of. For me, knowing that I can be a bright spot in the day of a resident, a point of positivity for their families, and an advocate within the facility is what motivates me to show up and do my best each day! I get to assist families and their loved ones in a way that I would want my own family to experience with long-term care.
As we celebrate Social Work Month, what message or advice would you like to share with the community about the importance of social work in long-term care?: Don’t ever stop being an advocate for those you care about, and always take an opportunity to speak up and support those who can’t do so on their own!
