March is Social Work Month, and we’re excited to shine a spotlight on Magdalena Harman, our dedicated Social Services Director, who has been an invaluable part of our team!
Magdalena’s journey in the healthcare sector spans over two decades, and it all began as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). “I’ve been working in the care sector for about 20 years,” Magdalena shares. “I started as a CNA and worked my way up. I completed my studies at university with a specialization in social work, and that’s where my passion truly blossomed.” Originally from Poland and the UK, she moved to the USA about six years ago, bringing with her a wealth of experience and dedication to the field.
Magdalena was drawn to the healthcare sector because of her love for working with people. “I like to work with people, and I enjoy talking to them and learning from them,” she explains. “The care sector can be challenging, but it is also incredibly rewarding.”
Magdalena’s passion for working with those in need is rooted in her desire to make a difference. “I like to think I am helping people who either have no voice or cannot help themselves. I’ve completed numerous courses and qualifications, both in the UK and the USA. I love learning, meeting new people, and helping others.”
In such a demanding field, motivation is key, and for Magdalena, it’s all about the team and the residents she serves. “The team I work with is my biggest motivator,” she says. “We work together to find solutions for individuals’ problems and concerns. I love advocating for our residents because they are vulnerable and often need assistance. Their well-being and dignity are at the heart of everything I do.”
For Magdalena, the most rewarding part of her job is the joy and smiles she sees from residents. “The smiles! I love seeing our residents interact with each other, smiling, and having a good time. It’s not easy for most people to adjust to being in a skilled nursing facility, especially when they lose their independence. Helping them through this process by building strong relationships with the residents and their families is truly fulfilling.”
Magdalena’s unwavering commitment to our residents and her passion for social work make her an invaluable asset to our team. Her compassion, dedication, and tireless advocacy are truly inspiring.
Thank you, Magdalena, for everything you do for our residents and for being such a crucial part of our team!
