Majestic Care of Lafayette is thrilled to share resident Diane Bishop’s Success Story!

Diane Bishop believes timing is everything. She was undergoing a series of routine tests after she felt weak at home and fell. When doctors at Indiana University Arnette Hospital discovered that she had heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), they immediately began to evaluate and treat her.

“I was surprised. I didn’t have any of the normal symptoms such as chest or heart pain — no shortness of breath. I was grateful my doctors found the problem… but, to be honest, I was scared.” They initially thought Diane would need to live with a Live Vest (wearable cardiac defibrillator) that would have to give her heart an electrical “jump” if ever needed. After discussions with the medical team and family, Diane decided to start a Cardiac Rehab regiment instead of the Life Vest. IU Hospital case managers worked with Diane to find the best inpatient rehab- and she chose to come to Majestic Care of Lafayette to regain her strength and speed the healing process.

Working closely with Majestic Care’s therapy team, Diane received the dedicated medical and nursing care along with the Physical and Occupational therapy she needed to get back on her feet. “I not only learned the special cardiac precautions I needed to follow, but also developed the skills I needed to move about safely. Most important, I learned how to better manage my blood pressure and monitor my health going forward.”

Diane says this experience reminds her of one of her favorite Proverbs: “Trust in the Lord with all thy heart. Congratulations to Diane and her Care Team on their success!
