Majestic Care is excited to highlight our outstanding Social Work team! Meet McKenzie Bray from Majestic Care of Southport!

Name: McKenzie Bray, Social Service Designee/Social Service assistant

Years of Experience: A little under a year in the SS department, but nine years in long term care.

What has ‘empowered’ you to become a social worker?: I have always known that whatever profession I would go into it would be a helping profession, it is just in my nature. Ultimately, I think what empowered me to become a social worker is I saw so many people who just needed someone to care and show up for them. I also saw a chance to use my voice to help others.

As we celebrate Social Work Month, what message or advice would you like to share with the community about the importance of social work in long-term care?: Working in the Social Service department in long term care you are the residents advocate and sometimes even their voice when they cannot find their own. I think my biggest piece of advice would be to never lose sight of the fact that we are here for the residents and often times one of their biggest support system during their transitions.
